Lucas Ferraz (Murilo Benicio) - A secluded, romantic, absent-minded and very sensitive young man. He’s in love with Jade, a Moroccan young girl, since he was 18 years old. He is dependent personality from his twin-brother Diogo and after his death Lucas takes hard a very difficult crisis of personality. He supersedes Diogo’s place and tries to realize brother’s dreams, to the point of getting married Maysa, brother’s girlfriend. And finally he loses all his youthful illusions, he becomes harsh, strong-willed and quite cold person. But his youthful love towards Jade goes through all obstacles and sorrows. The love like that can live forever.

Jade (Giovanna Antonelli) - The head character in the novella. She grew up in Brazil and at the age of 18 she lost her mother and had to move to Maroc – at her uncle’s house. Here she meets the love of whole her life – Lucas. But having to follow Maroc traditions she got married Said. Jade goes through the conflict of 2 worlds and cultures. She can’t understand who is she: a Muslim woman or a Brazilian one ? She has a very strong disposition, she is romantic, cunning person, she tries to realize herself in her life.

Diogo Ferraz (Murilo Benicio) - Joyful, sure of himself, full of initiatives, a seducer. Even Yvete wasn’t able to resist from him… He has definite purposes in his life and he knows perfectly what does he want. Practical person, business-like. He is Lucas’ younger twin-brother, but he is leader between them. Unfortunately Diogo perishes in the very beginning of the novella.

Leonidas Ferraz (Reginaldo Farias) - Strong person, real leader. Businessman, an owner of a big company that has a deal with export and import of foodstuff. He has a sense of humor, he is full of vital energy. He is widower, her wife died die childbed, having left her children-twins Lucas and Diogo orphans. He had a lot of love stories, but he had never wanted to get married until the moment when Yvette appeared in his life, who turned his life upside-down forever.

Yvete (Vera Fischer) - Pretty, joyful, emotional and a little bit scandal woman. She was a model, a secretary, a seller in a ready-made-clothes boutique until she meets and falls in love with Leonidas Ferraz. Yvete acts resolutely, impulsively, directed only by her desires and wishes and that’s why men are scared of her.. She can do the scandal in a public place and after that she will think she did everything right. Yvete starring by Vera Fischer is one more comedy-line of the novella.

Augusto Albieri (Juca de Oliveira) - Scientist, possessed by an idea and possibility to turn genetics world over. Intelligent, educated, vain person, only by word worried by ethic side of human cloning. But in fact the only one thing he is really worried is the experiment itself. After his godson Diogo’s death he decides to stake his reputation and does this experiment with cloning.

Ali, Tio (Stenio Garcia) - The head of a Muslim family, he is Jade’s uncle. Studied in Oxford the same period as Albieri did. Despite the fact that they have always been friends, their ideas about human cloning have never been the same. As for Ali this is attempt to religious principles and it is so typical for west people. A talented, educated, intelligent, severe & acute person. Tries to be fair to his family but it’s so difficult with 4 wives and a lot of nieces…

Maysa Ferraz (Daniela Escobar) - Gets married Lucas after Diogo’s death. She used everything to manage it even her pregnancy. Vain, selfish woman, she doesn’t carry anything but her own personality and her material well-being. She isn’t able to regulate her relations with Lucas and she presume that if Lucas had got married her he would have had to be her own property. But her life becomed darkened when she found out that her daughter was drug addict and Lucas meet Jade.

Said (Dalton Vigh) - Mohamed’s brother, Jade and Ranya’s husband, Kadija’s father. He becomes a millionaire. He’s intelligent, really in love with Jade and that’s why he is jealous very much. From the very beginning he knows that Jade is in love with an other man and to make Jade love him, he does a lot of stupid things, for example, he involves himself in love affaire with Maysa to make Jade be jealous, but without any success.

Deusa (Adriana Lessa) - Leandro’s surrogate mother, but she doesn’t know about it until one day when Leo is adult already. Joyful, young woman, she likes to spend the time at the disco. She doesn’t understand the idea about human cloning and think that Leo was born after artificial fertilization. And she considers that this story about the clone was made up by Albieri for taking Leo away from her.

Edna (Nivea Maria) - Albieri’s secretary, she’s in love with him. She is one of these women who presume that they have to sacrifice everything for beloved one. And even manages to be married him. But when she finds out that he betrays her trust, she decide to revenge.

Zoraide (Jandira Martini) - A Bedouin woman from the desert, taken by Ali from there, he took her in his house and she does everything about the house. Jade’s real friend who never betrays her and helps her in Jade’s relationship with Lucas. In the end of the novel she gets married Ali.

Latiffa (Leticia Sabatella) - Jade’s cousin, she lived in Brazil too but she moved to Maroc at the age of 12 years old and perfectly used to live by Muslim traditions. In spite of apparent resignation, she can fight for her own by typically female means and always attains the object. Romantic and kind.

Mohamed (Antonio Calloni) - Latiffa’s husband and Said and Nazira’s brother. Sympathic, good-natured, a little bit talkative. Loves his wife. It’s alright in his family life until Nazira convinces him to bring one more wife (because that moment Latiffa can’t give birth to children)

Nazira (Eliane Giardini) - Said and Mohamed’s elder sister. Her only desire is to get married and she can’t stand to watch the other people’s happiness. She was never married because after their parents’ death she is the eldest in the family and had to take care of her brothers till they get married. She takes her reverse in personal life to heart and tries to get hurt to another people. After meeting Edvaldo she tries to get married him.

Edvaldo (Roberto Bonfim) - Deusa’s beloved, he is v very fond of women, dance-lover, he prefers to spend a lot of time at the disco surrounded by young and cute girls making Deusa be jealous. In pursuit of fast and light money, he gets involved in this relationship with Nazira, who promises him a caravan of camels if he gets married her.

Dalva (Neuza Borges) - Lucas and Diogo’s nanny, she had been raising them from their birthday. A very jolly, careful woman, she doesn’t any idea about human cloning and believe that Leo is the Diogo’s second reincarnation. She doesn’t trust Albieri at all.

Anita (Myrian Rios) - Dr. Albieri’s assistant.

Leandro Edvaldo (Murilo Benicio) - The first human clone in the human in the whole world. He is created from Lucas’ cells. In the very beginning of his life he was educated by his (surrogate) mother (Deusa) and his grand-mother (Mocinha). He has been running away a lot of times from Mocinha’s home where he lived from the age of 5. But however he has always returned to his mother in Rio. Genetically he had love towards Jade, that’s why his attitude to her is just like Lucas’, but he loves her just like a goddess.

Mel Ferraz (Debora Falabella) - Lucas and Maysa’s daughter, she is slighted by her mother, that’s why she feels complete nonentity and . Her first love is Ceceu (Telminha’s brother), but the love story didn’t have any chances to be realized. When Xande becomes her bodyguard they become friends and then they fall in love with each other forever.

Xande (Marcelo Novaes) - Dona Jura’s adopted son, he is Mel’s bodyguard, but he fells in love with her.

Kadija (Carla Diaz) - Jade and Said’s daughter – a very affectionate and tender girl, and unlike her mother, she likes and accept Muslim traditions and can’t any wait for the moment when she will be able to wear a veil. But her real character is shown when she doesn’t accept her father’s decision about marrying with the second woman, Ranya and is jealous father of her new-born brother.

Zein (Luciano Szafir) - Handsome, intelligent young man, a good connoisseur of the literature. With Jade and Lucas he completes the main love triangle in the novella.

Ranya (Nivea Stelmann) - Said’s second wife, a young, pretty woman with joyful character. She can’t do anything about the house. She’s very proud that she’s Said’s wife but in time she started to be scared that her husband will get her back to her parents, that’s why she becomes distrustful and irritable, she can’t find common ground with Kadija.

Tavinho Valverde (Victor Fasano) - Lucas’ friend, one of directors of Ferraz’ company. Lidiane’s husband, Telminha and Ceceu’s father. He doesn’t want to lose his youth and that’s why asks his children not to call him Daddy, only by name. He likes to spend time surrounded by young girls.

Telminha Valverde (Thais Fersoza) - Lidiane and Tavinho’s daughter, Mel’s best friend, she introduces Mel to her brother Ceceu, because Mel was in love with him, but the love story wasn’t realized.

Ceceu Valverde(Sergio Marone) - Lidiane’s and Tavinho’s son. Nando’s best friend. Tries to help him to break drugs up. He likes to be surrounded by girls.

Nando (Tiago Fragozo) - Clarice and Escobar’s son, he is a young lawyer who has a probation at Leonidas’ company. Intelligent, joyful young man who changes completely when he becomes drug-addict.

Lidiane (Beth Goulart) - Tavinho’s wife. Intelligent but jealous, to keep her husband away from other women, she makes friends with Latiffa. She studies from her seductive ways that Moroccan women have. Maysa’s best friend, she’s always ready to listen to her and support her in all her affaires, but sometimes she tries to bring her to reason, when Maysa has entirely mad ideas.

Clarice (Cissa Guimaraes) - A modern woman. She is an example of the female force in the novella. Escobar’s wife, their marriage ruined after the moment when they found out that their son Nando is drug-addict. She is mother who suffers & fights for her son, she wants to save him from drugs…

Escobar (Marcos Frota) - Albieri’s disciple, he admires him very much. He doubts in ethic side of human cloning. Her marriage with Clarice ruined after the moment when they found out that their son Nando is drug-addict.

Carolina (Thalma de Freitas) - Dalva’s niece, she works at Leonidas’ company. She’s in love with Lobato, Leonidas' friend

Amim (Thiago Oliveira) - Mohamed’s and Latiffa’s son. He is in love with Kadija. His favorite game is to spy the relatives & to report the facts to his father. Sometimes he blackmails his relatives for money or some favors. He feels himself the favorite child in the family and this fact irritates his elder sister Samira.

Odete (Mara Manzan) - Carla’s mother. She works in a circus as "Volcano-woman" Karla (Juliana Paes) Xande’s former girlfriend, who’s famous for her desire to get rich by getting married a rich man, one of Leo’s lovers.

Alicinha (Cristiana Oliveira) - Edna’s niece, a cold-blooded, unprincipled person, ready to anything to attain her object. She tries to set Edna against Albieri & to find out Albieri’s secrets he hides. She is capable to betray her relatives. She has never thought about the other people’s feelings and doesn’t know what love is until she meets Miro.

Miro (Raul Gazolla) - Xande’s griend, he’s in love with Alicinha.

Laurinda (Totia Meireles) - Yvette’s and Deusa’s friend. She’s always ready to listen to friends’ problems and she is often between 2 fires. She look forward to be loved by anybody and go through a passion and not only listen to love stories from friends.

Dona Mocinha (Ruth de Souza) - Deusa’s mother, Leo’s granny, she loves her daughter very much and tries “to protect” her grand-son from the influence of Albieri.

Dona Jura (Solange Couto) - Owner of the famous bar, called her own name (Dona Jura’s bar), Xande’s foster-mother. A very big-hearted woman, good-natured, hospitable, but strict when it’s needed. She and her bar’s visitors are one of comedy parts of novella.

Samira (Stephany de Brito) - Latiffa and Mohamed’s elder daughter. She always quarrels with her younger brother Amim, because she thinks that he took her place in the family. Living in Brazil, watching Brazilian people’s life, she doesn’t want to continue living in Muslim life and tries to convince her parents that she wants to live differently.

Lobato (Osmar Prado) - Lucas’ and Leonidas’ friend. He’s in love with Caroline. Along time ago he was in love with a girl named Elba and now her picture is essential part of his desktop decor.

Abdul, Tio (Sebastiao Vasconcelos) - Mohamed’s and Said’s uncle, Ali’s brother. He is the Muslim to his very marrow and he keeps the Muslim’s law so he can run into absurdity & living in 21 century he insists to attend everything in the Koran even the public punishments for his disobedient relatives.

Armando (Paulo Betti) - Yvete’ s ancient friend and lover, who reappeared in her life, they have even got married, but it was over by his leaving her without her money.

Basilio (Silvio Guindane) - Xande’s friend. He works at Dona Jura’s bar. A very curious guy, adores to set rumors afloat and for that he gets often cuffs from Dona Jura herself.

Beta (Franciely Freduzeski) - Xande’s friend, a very observant person, a kind and sympathetic young girl, she tries to make Xande open his eyes about Mel’s love to him.

Cinira (Silvia Pfeifer) - One of Leonidas’ girlfriends, he even wanted to marry her, but Yvete didn’t let it realize.

Dr. Jose Vitor (Henri Pagnoncelli) - A drugdealer. Elba (Cassia Linhares) - Lobato’s former beloved one. Jorge Luiz (Nuno Leal Maia) - A paparazzi who’s in love with Yvete. Raposao (Guilherme Karan) - Dona’s Jura’s neighbor. He’s seller of cars, and besides he tries to sell everything he can, for example, t-shirts.

Miss Brown (Beatriz Segall) - Albieri and Edna’s friend, a doctor who makes tests for cloning in London. Dr. Molina’s wife.

Mustafa (Perry Salles) - Mohamed and Said’s cousin, he wants to marry Nazira, but she isn’t delighted with such prospect. He is Mohamed’s partner in the shop.

Noemia (Elizangela) - Carla’s friend, professional masseuse, she flirts with Mohamed.

Padre Mattioli (Francisco Cuoco) - A priest. He was the first person who found out about Albieri’s successful experiment with cloning.

Pitoco (Marcelo Brou) - Xande and Miro’s friend.

Regininha (Viviane Victorette) - So called Mel’s “friend” who involved her in the drug-dependence.

Salua (Walderez de Barros) - Jade’s mother. In the very beginning she dies and before that she asked her daughter to move to Maroc at her uncle Ali’s house.

Soninha (Andressa Katz) - A young girl who works at Yvete’s shop. Leo flirts with her.

Simone (Francoise Forton) - Deusa’s friend, Julio’s passion, she tries to help Deusa to find the truth in Leo’s situation.

Tiao (Antonio Pitanga) - Permanent guest of Dona Jura’s bar, he’s in love with the owner of the bar.
